You pay import tax on a K-beauty order to Canada only when the items are worth more than CA$20. Above that, duty and sales tax are charged on the whole value when the parcel arrives.
Example: on a CA$50 cart to Ontario, duty and tax at the door come to CA$6.50 from Olive Young Global or CA$10.17 from Stylevana. Olive Young Global ships from Korea, so its figure uses 0% duty if the Korea Tariff applies. Stylevana ships from Hong Kong, so its figure uses 6.5% duty. We couldn't confirm whether Stylevana charges these at checkout instead. Shipping and the courier's own fee are extra.

A parcel is free of duty and tax when the items in it are worth CA$20 or less, whether it comes by courier or by mail. This doesn't apply to goods imported by someone other than the person who bought them.

Shipping from abroad isn't part of the value. If the price includes it, it's taken off. The same value decides whether you're over CA$20.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
Olive Young Global says the value it declares to customs may also include the shipping fee (even when shipping was free), free gifts and amounts paid with points. So the value customs sees can be higher than your item total. The totals on this page use the item total.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
Higher limits (CA$40 free of duty and tax, CA$150 free of duty) apply to courier shipments imported from the United States or Mexico only. Olive Young Global ships from Korea and Stylevana ships from Hong Kong, so these limits don't apply to them. We haven't found where YesStyle ships from; the totals here use the CA$20 limit.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source

For personal orders ("casual goods"), goods count as Korean if they're acquired in Korea and are marked as a product of Korea or Canada under Korean marking rules, or carry no mark and nothing shows another origin.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source No certificate of origin is needed for these personal orders.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
Not settled: the rule doesn't say whether an online order from a Korean store, shipped from Korea, counts as "acquired in Korea". The totals here use 0% for stores that ship from Korea; at the general rate, duty would be 6.5% of the item value. Stores that ship from elsewhere are shown at 6.5%, because goods bought there may not count as acquired in Korea. GST, HST and provincial sales tax
GST (the federal goods and services tax) on imports is 5%.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source In New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Prince Edward Island, HST (harmonized sales tax) replaces it at 13% to 15%.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source GST or HST is charged on the value plus any duty.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
In British Columbia (PST, 7%), Manitoba (RST, 7%), Saskatchewan (PST, 6%) and Quebec (QST, 9.975%), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) also collects provincial sales tax for the province on parcels over CA$20. In British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan it's charged on the same value plus duty. Quebec's base isn't settled: the border agency's guidance gives it both as the value plus duty and as the value plus duty plus GST. The totals here use the value plus duty, so the figure for Quebec may be slightly low. The CBSA also says some goods may not be subject to provincial tax in your province; the totals here include it.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source

Who collects it, and the fees on top
Canada's rules for overseas sellers to collect GST or HST don't cover parcels mailed or couriered from abroad, so for these orders the tax is charged at the border.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
By mail: the CBSA (the border agency) works out the duty and tax, and Canada Post collects them from you.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source Canada Post adds a handling fee of CA$9.95 to each mail item it collects duty or tax on, collected in advance, upon delivery, or at pick-up. Nothing is charged on items of CA$20 or less. Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
By courier: the courier pays the duty and tax to the CBSA and bills you, unless the store pays them. Couriers usually also charge their own fee for clearing customs. It's a private charge, separate from duty and tax.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
One courier that publishes its fee: DHL Express charges receivers without a DHL account CA$18 or 2.75% of "fiscal charges", whichever is higher (CA$12 or 2.75% with a DHL brokerage account), from 1 January 2026. DHL doesn't define "fiscal charges". None of the stores below is known to ship to Canada by DHL, so this is only an example.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
Olive Young Global ships by FedEx. FedEx's and UPS's fees for clearing parcels into Canada aren't recorded here: we couldn't read their pages. The totals below leave the courier's fee out and say "at least".Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source
Olive Young Global. Ships from Korea by FedEx. Its fees and free-shipping amount are in USD, even if you shop in CAD. Its help page gives one shipping fee for every country except a few, without naming Canada, so check the fee at checkout. Its pages disagree on whether an order of exactly US$60 ships free. Olive Young Global doesn't add tax at checkout for orders to Canada.
YesStyle. We haven't found where it ships from, so the duty rate isn't known. Its shipping fees to Canada aren't published in a form we could record. YesStyle adds PST (6%) to the items at checkout, for addresses in Saskatchewan only. It doesn't say whether shipping is taxed. It refunds customs charges paid at the door as YesStyle Credit, for orders under US$1,000, if you claim within 30 days of paying them. You still pay them first. Tax it charges at checkout isn't refunded.Last checked: 2026-10-12 · Source

We couldn't confirm whether Stylevana adds tax at checkout for orders to Canada.
Couriers usually add their own fee for clearing customs. We don't have a sourced amount for it, so it's left out.
How it adds up: the items are worth CA$50.00, more than CA$20, so all of it is taxed. The CA$7.99 shipping isn't part of the value. Duty at 6.5% is CA$3.25. HST at 13% is charged on CA$53.25 (items plus duty): CA$6.92.
